The gift of mindfulness meditation for peace and love.

As challenges stacked up, I practiced different forms of meditation to assist in calming stress and anxiety; body scans, visualizations, kirtan (hymns), mantras from the Sikh faith, eventually finding Mindfulness Meditation. I discovered Mindfulness when I took a class for caregivers at Hospice of the Valley and found it to be a beneficial tool for relaxing my mind and body. The more I practiced this form of simple meditation, the more peace I began to cultivate.

Mindfulness is the basic human ability to be fully present, aware of where we are and what we are doing, not overly reactive or overwhelmed by what's going on around us. Allowing things to be just as they are with love and acceptance.

We practice this awareness by watching our breath. Through presence, the body relaxes, the mind relaxes and we find moments of stillness and peace.

Touching the edges of infinity
Blows me apart
I sprinkle like stardust
A shooting star
Across a timeless vastness
And this:
A sink full of dishes
I am that
And this is temporary

I came to Lavina’s group looking for a space to just be.

Practicing mindfulness daily can be challenging, and for me joining others in meditation is a great way to be reminded of how important the practice is. Lavina has created a loving and welcoming environment that feels safe for sharing, or for just being.

Lavina creates a warm, welcoming space for each person, regardless of their meditation experience.

Especially the first couple times I participated in the group, 30 minutes of meditation was completely outside my comfort zone. However, with the help of conversation following meditation and by simply continuing to show up, I have learned and grown in my meditation practice. I'm really grateful for Lavina and all those who participate because this weekly practice with others makes me accountable.

I have tried to start a meditation practice on my own and found it difficult.

With Lavina's guidance during group meditation, I have benefited greatly!  Her gentle demeanor and encouraging words are transforming.  I eagerly await each guided meditation journey every week.  I find it rejuvenating and inspiring.

Lavina’s spirit and voice is soothing.

She is welcoming to everyone who attends the mindful meditation. I like her quiet reminders to bring my monkey mind back into the room and my body to stay present to my meditation.

Lavina has a wonderfully calm, grounding presence and style that makes slipping into meditation effortless!
